Jock McHale coaches Collingwood to the VFL premiership for a record 8th time.  Ken Farmer (North Adelaide) kicks SANFL record 134 goals. 1937: Eric Tassie Medal  for fairest and best player, or players, in interstate championships awarded for first time. Mick Cronin (Western Australia) is inaugural winner. 1938: Haydn Bunton (Subiaco) wins Sandover Medal to add to his three Brownlows. Dick Reynolds (Essendon) wins third Brownlow Medal. Record crowd of 96,384 see Carlton 15.10 (100) defeat Collingwood 13.7 (85) in VFL grand final.  VFA revoke permit agreement with VFL and make drastic adjustment to rules of play by authorising throw pass. Launceston (NTFA) win all 16 matches played during season for 6th premiership and 2nd state premiership in row. Victoria win AAFC Carnival, the second, held in Launceston.
