27 185cm 90kg A strong and robust full back with delightful high mark and long kick.  New to representative football and has thoroughly deserved his selection.  His form in intra state and state premiership matches has been most solid and reliable.

Noel Raitt (East Devonport)

24 188cm 93.5kg Coach of his club and formerly a great player with Essendon (VFL).  Still only a young man, he has years of football ahead.  One of the biggest players in the team, he is a very strong ruckman and defender.  Has shown excellent form this season in intra-state games and is a great asset to Tasmanian football.  represented the state last season.

Garth Smith (New Norfolk)

29 183cm 88kg Has represented Tasmania on several occasions and given many brilliant displays.  Is equally at home on the half forward line as in a ruck-cum-rover capacity.  A good high mark, a long and reliable kick.  Has given great service to the game over many years.

Max McMahon (Burnie)

24 183cm 80kg Formerly of Hawthorn (VFL), enjoying a good season on the north west coast after his transfer from Glenorchy.  A beautiful ball handler and utility player.  Is a great asset to Tasmanian football.  Represented the state last season.

Brian Donahoe (Scottsdale)

29 183cm 82.5kg Formerly of Essendon (VFL) and now captain-coach of his club.  Although light for a ruckman is one of the greatest triers in the game.  Has turned on several brilliant efforts in state premierships.  A high flyer in the ruck and a safe field mark.  Has had excellent results with his club and been a great player for the state.

Roy Apted (Launceston)

28 182cm 85.5kg A solid and reliable back pocket or utility player who knows how to check an opponent.  Played for Tasmania prior to transferring to St Kilda (VFL).  He can be a match winner when swung onto the ball as a ruck-cum-rover.  Has given very valuable service since returning to the state.

Graeme Wilkinson (City-South)

27 183cm 86kg Captain-coach of his team - formerly of Richmond (VFL).  A player who has served Tasmanian football well, a dynamic player and one respected by opponents.  Can be a match winner with his glorious marking and long kicking.

Kevin Baker (Glenorchy)

25 188cm 85.5kg A solid player and good team man, difficult for opposition to get on top of.  Quite unassuming.  New to state football but has represented South in intra-state games.

Peter Hudson (New Norfolk)

20 189cm 82kg The star forward of the moment.  High, spectacular mark, fast leading full forward and accurate kick.  A really great young player with a bright future, many Melbourne clubs seeking his services.  Is recognised already as the greatest (Tasmanian) full forward since Alan Rait.  Has represented his state previously.

Geoff Whitton (Sandy Bay)

24 185cm 82.5kg Captain of his club.  A high flying spectacular ruckman who can dominate a game.  A match winner on his day.  Has played previously for Tasmania and has lots of football ahead.  Was outstanding in recent intra-state matches.

Barry Browning (New Norfolk)

23 188cm 83.5kg A strong and fearless half back, a particularly good mark, and can always be relied upon to turn in a good game.  First appearance as a state representative and is expected to be a star of the future.

Kevin McLean (North Launceston)

26 171cm 71.5kg A fast, elusive player with a good kick.  A excellent rover.  He has represented Tasmania on a number of occasions.  An expert wet weather player and sure ball handler and dangerous when resting in front of goal.

Brian Lowe (Cooee - vice-captain)

26 188cm 85kg Captain and coach of his club.  Played for several seasons with St Kilda (VFL).  A strong ruckman and high mark.  Represented Tasmania previously with great distinction.

Len Lawson (Latrobe)

26 183cm 80kg Strong half back.  Good high mark and long kick, has previously played for his state and was one of the best players in the 1961 ANFC Championships in Brisbane.  Equally at home in a utility role and fearless in his pursuit of the ball.

Barry Lawrence (Longford)

20 183cm 85.5kg Only 20 years of age, has previously played for the state and shows great promise.  A high marking and long kicking centre half forward - is developing into a solid and reliable player and should become one of the state's stalwarts in future.

Peter Fromberg (Ulverstone)

21 183cm 84kg A young player of great promise.  Good high mark and long kick, and a fearless type of player who is at home in any position on the back line.  Has previously played for the state and has a very bright future.

Burnie Payne (Hobart)

27 178cm 79.5kg Perhaps the most dynamic rover-forward in the state.  Played with St Kilda.  Won all major trophies last season.  Has been one of Tasmania's best over the years.  A sure and purposeful ball handler and beautiful kick, and very dangerous when resting on the forward line.

Ray Walker (Burnie)

24 178cm 79.5kg Captain-coach of his club.  Ex Footscray and VFL representative.  Has filled the role of lecturer for the ANFC in the schools and with junior players.  An excellent high mark for a small man, a good long kick and fearless back player.  Has done very well with his club since coming to Tasmania last season.

Dick Grimmond (North Hobart)

27 178cm 76kg Captain-coach of his club.  A strong and fearless player, never beaten.  Played with Richmond and represented the VFL.  Has fully recovered from a serious accident suffered during last season and now at his peak.  Represented Tasmania last season.

Berkley Cox (City-South)

27 175cm 76.5kg A talented centreman or utility player.  Prior to playing with Carlton in the VFL represented Tasmania.  Played 100 games in the VFL and has lost none of the form which made him a great player in Melbourne.

Charlie Thompson (North Launceston)

22 170cm 69kg No newcomer to representative football having represented Tasmania in 1964 when he won the best and fairest player award.  A fearless rover, and good kick and mark for a small man.  Has played more than 130 games with his club and has represented his Association in many intra-state games.

Ron Marney (Glenorchy)

28 173cm 66kg The smallest player in the squad but he is all heart.  His tenacity and courage endears him to all patrons.  captain of the club, he is an inspiring leader.  a great mark for his size and a beautiful kick, he is the type of player indispensable to a team.  Has represented his state with distinction on numerous occasions.

David Sullivan (Hobart)

26 173cm 71.5kg Having an outstanding season.  A heady player at home in the centre, elusive, a good mark and strong kick.  Winner of the William Leitch Medal in 1964.  New to representative football but great things are expected of this brilliant player in the championships.

John Bonney (Cooee)

20 178cm 74.5kg A classy player on the wing and in the centre.  He moves beautifully and is a sure ball handler and not afraid to go in after the ball.  Should develop into one of the state's best players with added experience.  Joint winner of the best and fairest player in the Tasmanian team last season.
