Norm Luff (Oakleigh)

25 185cm 82.5kg Centre half back.  Recognised as one of the foremost centre half backs in the VFA.  In his third season with the Oaks, he repeatedly lifts his side with his brilliant play.

Fred Robinson (Brunswick)

26 185cm 90.5kg Full back.  Having his best season and is a most reliable defender.  First played with Murchison, then crossed to North Melbourne for 20 games and now starring in defence for Brunswick.

Bob Ware (Williamstown)

24 191cm 89kg Ruckman.  Talented player.  Powerful follower equally at home at the difficult centre half forward position.  Is enjoying a particularly good season with Towns, to which club he transferred in 1964.  Is vice-captain of Towns this year.  Although only 24 he is in his sixth year of top football.  Brought up from Footscray Thirds, Ware commenced playing senior football at 17.

23 185cm 82.5kg Showing great promise in all games since joining Dandy this season.  Was runner-up best and fairest with Mornington League in 1965.  Starred with Collegian Amateurs in 1961-62.

21 196cm 98.5kg Big player.  Solid, determined and capable.  Untiring ruckman and a safe forward pocket.  Recruited from Thornbury and going extra well with Preston.

Alan Osborne (Dandenong)

25 188cm 87kg Ruck, forward or back pocket.  Versatile player, experienced.  Represented the VFA at Hobart in 1961 and at Launceston against Tassie in 1964-65.  A top line player for Dandenong since winning promotion from his club's Thirds in 1960.  Represented VFA at Perth, 1965.

Peter Howell (Port Melbourne)

23 185cm 89kg Centre half forward in top form.  Strong, clever, pacy, excellent mark and long kick.  Recruited from Mentone after 90 games and one of Port's best in 1965-66.

Alan Poore (Waverley)

23 178cm 82.5kg A dashing centre in top form.  Won Liston Award in 1965.  recruited from Mentone, Federal league, then on to Collingwood for three seasons, then to Waverley in 1964.

Geoff Grover (Port Melbourne)

22 188cm 87.5kg In great form in defence.  A real dasher, splendid mark, and fast mover.  His first interstate squad.  A former star at 18 with Old Caulfield Grammarians in the Amateur Association.

23 183cm 79.5kg Centre half back.  Brilliant high mark and play on footballer with a long clearing kick.  In his second season with Waverley.  Brought up by Carlton from Mentone.

Brian Bibby (Brunswick)

26 178cm 75.5kg centre.  Formerly starred on a wing before the advent of 16-a-side.  Speedy, elusive player with great pace.  He has played over 100 games with the Wicks.

22 180cm 76kg Dashing centre half back, good ball handler, long clearing kick.  Formerly played with Richmond.

Keith Robins (Brunswick)

19 183cm 78kg outstanding half back flank this year.  In second season with the Wicks.  Was recruited from Templestowe in the capable Diamond Valley League.  Come through type, fast, and a safe high mark.

John Nation (Waverley)

24 173cm 74kg One of his club's mainstays since 1963.  Versatile player in back pocket, half forward flank and can rove well when required.

John Mickelson (Northcote)

23 188cm 91kg Played two seasons with Coburg before transferring this season to Northcote.  Consistent scorer this season.  High marking, vigorous and accurate, with ability to take over the rucks when required.

Colin Sleep (Northcote)

21 175cm 72kg Centreman.  Now only 21, and showing marked ability in his third season.  His sterling performances this season attracted the selectors' interest.  He has a great future in Association football.

Brian Trezise (Sunshine)

27 178cm 78.5kg Starring in the centre in VFA 2nd Division.  Started football with North Footscray when only 14, then two seasons with Footscray Thirds, and several seasons with Sunshine.  Consistently good and fast and smart in centre position.

Darryl McKenzie (Sandringham)

21 196cm 93.5kg Versatile player for ruck, forward or back pocket.  An all round handyman and 32 games up with Sandy after promotion from the leading junior East Sandy side.

John Walker (Preston)

24 191cm 85kg Full forward.  Prolific goal kicker for his club.  He has also played as a ruckman and at half forward.  Recruited from Ivanhoe Amateurs in 1964, he has twice represented the Victorian Amateur Association interstate, and the VFA at Perth.

Peter Bedford (Port Melbourne)

19 178cm 73kg Only 19 and his first VFA state side selection.  One of the players to watch.  Starring at centre or rover.  In state Sheffield Shield cricket squad and VCA Colts player.

Ron Brown (Yarraville)

24 178cm 80kg Rover.  Captain of his team for the past two years and a most consistent player who has played over 125 games for his club.  Recruited from the Melbourne Boys' League, he commenced his senior football at 15.

Brian Dineen (Preston)

21 183cm 76kg Promoted from Thirds in 1965 where he was captain in 1964, and top Thirds player that year.  Clever all rounder.  Half back flank and smart half forward flank.  Keen, always on the job and a worry to opponents.

Ted Crosher (Port Melbourne)

25 170cm 74.5kg Crossed over from Moorabbin to Port Melbourne and immediately became a regular back pocket, where he is always prominent with his great come through dashes and excellent kicking and marking.
