26 188cm 85.5kg Essendon's champion centre half forward, having his first experience as captain of a VFL representative side.  Was captain of Essendon's 1965 premiership side and is leading them again this season.  A great all round player, strong in the air and an amazing recovery.  Has played over 150 senior games.  Essendon's best and fairest player 1963-64.

Darrel Baldock (St Kilda - vice-captain)

27 179cm 82.5kg Vice-captain of a VFL representative side for the first time.  Played for Tasmania in the ANFC championships of 1958 and 1961, being captain on the latter occasion.  Plays centre half forward for St Kilda, but is also a proven centreman and half forward flanker.  His ball handling skill borders on the unbelievable.  St Kilda's best and fairest player 1962-63-65.

Denis Marshall (Geelong)

25 184cm 82.5kg Played for WA in last championships.  One of Geelong's stars.  Has excelled as half back flanker this season.  A very versatile player.

25 179cm 77kg Melbourne's captain and centre man.  Former star half forward flanker.  Has also roved, and twice been winner of Melbourne's best and fairest award.

23 188cm 84.5kg Former WA state representative, now South Melbourne's centre half forward.  A brilliant mover, spectacular mark.

John Nicholls (Carlton)

26 189cm 98kg Carlton's key follower and the VFL's best ruckman.  Delivers the ball intelligently to his rovers and has surprising pace for a man of his size.  Three times winner of club's best and fairest award and member of the VFL's 1961 Carnival side.

Noel Teasdale (North Melbourne)

28 188cm 95.5kg Follower-forward-utility player.  Captain of North Melbourne, runner-up Brownlow Medal last year (see footnote 1).  Played in 1961 championships.  Rugged, strong.

John Newnham (Fitzroy)

23 170cm 70kg Rover, very fast and clever.  Excels around the packs.

Neville Crowe (Richmond)

27 193cm 95.5kg Richmond captain and leading ruckman.  A player of amazing stamina, Crowe is accustomed to running on the ball for approximately the whole four quarters.  Brilliant mark.  Best and fairest winner 1963.

John Birt (Essendon)

29 173cm 68kg One of the cleverest rovers in the VFL at present.  Very creative and an excellent kick.  Essendon's best and fairest winner last year.

Morton Browne (Hawthorn)

26 183cm 78.5kg Hawthorn half forward flanker who has also had experience in the centre and on the half back line.  A seasoned player.

Ted Whitten (Footscray)

32 184cm 89kg Victoria's Mr. football and Footscray's captain-coach.  Brilliant all rounder playing in his fourth carnival.  Three times winner of Australian blazer.  Club's best and fairest player on five occasions.

Stewart Magee (South Melbourne)

22 175cm 78kg South Melbourne half forward flanker and relief rover.  A very classy player.  Accurate stab pass.

Terry Waters (Collingwood)

22 187cm 82.5kg One of the acrobatic markers in the VFL.  Can play well in any position.  Likely to line up at full forward in this series.

Ted Potter (Collingwood)

21 188cm 79kg Collingwood defender who plays equally well at full back or centre half back.  Not as vigorous as some defenders, but very reliable.

Ken Beck (Hawthorn)

25 199cm 89kg Hawthorn key ruckman who is one of the most improved players in the VFL this season.  Seldom beaten for hit-outs, and very strong in the air.

22 191cm 82.5kg Fitzroy's courageous follower and their best and fairest winner last season.  A strong all round player.

22 180cm 76kg St Kilda's centreman whose Brownlow Medal win last season is proof of his ability.  An accurate left foot kick and a very creative player.

23 175cm 73kg Footscray's back pocket specialist.  Plays his position to perfection and very seldom has goals kicked against him.

John Goold (Carlton)

24 184cm 80kg Carlton's talented centre half back.  Brilliant high mark and strong left foot kick.  Starred on half back flank before becoming a key position player.

Peter Walker (Geelong)

23 183cm 76kg Geelong's best and fairest winner last season.  Backs his judgement and is seldom beaten.  Plenty of pace and good in the air.

Barry Bourke (Melbourne)

22 180cm 76.5kg Versatile player.  Extremely fast and very clever ball handler.  Played at full forward last season and has been used both as a rover and wingman this season.

Bill Barrot (Richmond)

22 180cm 80.5kg Richmond centreman and one of the best attacking players in the League today.  Covers plenty of territory and the type of player who is pleasing to watch in action.  Best and fairest winner last season.
