19 185cm 90.5kg Centre half forward.  Like Brehaut, a second year League player.  Selected in state squad last year but withdrew because of injury.  Physically strong, talented player, and excellent mark.  Although not an accurate kick, he boots the ball long.  Occupation: Trainee Chartered Accountant.

Kevin Murray (East Perth - captain)

27 180cm 82.5kg Half back flank specialist, one of the best in Australia.  He has been playing in the ruck for the Royals.  Strong, hard hitting player who goes straight for the ball and relies mainly on pace and excellent ball handling.  Captained the VFL in 1964, and former captain-coach of Fitzroy, he was appointed to his present position as captain-coach of East Perth last year.  Appointed state coach in place of Jim Conway (Claremont) who resigned from the position last year.  Occupation: Sales Representative.

Derek Chadwick (East Perth)

24 173cm 71kg Wing.  Claimed by West Australians to be the best wingman in the business.  Exceptionally fast, tenacious and brilliant ground player.  Member of state teams since 1961 championships.  His club's fairest and best, 1963.  Sheffield Shield cricketer.  Occupation: School teacher.

Barry Cable (Perth)

22 169cm 70kg Rover.  You can't miss him with his fair hair and dashing style of play.  The most brilliant rover in the WANFL.  Classic left footer, he uses handball constructively, and doesn't mind how tough a game becomes.  Terrific tackler for a little man.  First state game as a reserve against SA in 1964.  Sandover Medallist same year.  Occupation: Swimming pool attendant.

Mel Whinnen (West Perth)

23 175cm 76kg Centreman.  Played in this position against the VFA, but on a wing against the VFL last year where he will probably play in the championship series.  Features of his game are his pace and the accuracy of his disposal.  Kicks either foot.  Member of state teams since 1963.  Occupation: Engineer.

Bill Walker (Swan Districts)

25 173cm 71kg Rover.  Sandover Medallist 1965.  A most damaging player.  Beautiful kick with either foot - drop kick, stab pass, and dangerous anywhere near the goals.  Member of state teams since 1962.  Occupation: Farmer.

Greg Brehaut (Perth)

19 178cm 73kg Wing.  Playing as a half back flanker as a junior has stood him in good stead as a wingman by adding that necessary vigour to his play.  A penetrating left foot kick.  Occupation: Fitter, Railways.

Fred Lewis (East Fremantle)

19 183cm 79.5kg Centre half forward.  The third 19 year old with the WA side.  Talented player who can kick the ball.  Safe mark and can play anywhere in the forward line.  Commenced League with his club aged 17, July 1964.  Won state selection as a half forward flanker against the VFL in Perth last year.  Occupation: Electro Plater.

Keith Doncon (East Perth)

21 174cm 71.5kg Rover.  Like his team mate Brown, he hails from Scotch College.  After an impressive first League season with East Perth in 1963, Doncon gave football away and returned to farming.  Making a re-appearance this year, he quickly found form.  Doncon is a rover with deadly goal sense.  Tough physically and pacy.  Strong overhead.  Penetrating right footer and courageous.

Gary Scott (South Fremantle)

27 185cm 82.5kg Utility.  He has the distinction of having played in every position for his club.  Pacy, he develops a lot of mobility around the ground running on the ball.  Safe mark, good kick.  Played against Tassie (1963), VFA last year.  Occupation: School teacher.

Norm Rogers (East Fremantle)

28 183cm 82.5kg Centre half back.  Plays on a half back flank with state teams.  Determined, robust player who likes to get plenty of movement into his play.  Long driving kick and high mark.  Played over 25 state games.  Occupation: Police Officer.

Tony Casserly (East Fremantle)

22 185cm 82.5kg Ruckman.  Brought up to League in 1962.  Intelligent player, excellent clubman, and always a 'goer', giving of his best.  Good mark and kicks either foot.  Would make a great half forward flanker running occasionally on the ball.  Represented WA on tour and at home in 1964.  Occupation: Sales Representative.

Colin Hebbard (West Perth)

29 178cm 76kg Half back flank.  Commenced his football career with Essendon (VFL) in 1957.  Talented, versatile player enjoying his best season ever.  He played in eight different positions with Essendon finishing in the centre, and playing 86 VFL games.  On a half back flank this year, he has been a punishing player.  A lovely kick, he turns defence into attack as a master of the art of defensive football.  Occupation: Sales Representative.

Ian Abraham (Claremont)

24 183cm 87kg Joined the Tigers this year.  Former Dandenong (VFA) player for five years - three years at full back, two years at centre half forward, the position in which he plays for Claremont.  Kicks both feet.  Good mark and pacy.  Commenced with Collingwood (VFL).  Occupation: Assistant Manager, motor car firm.

Bob Page (Perth)

20 185cm 87kg Ruckman.  From the country (Pingelly) in 1965.  His second League season.  Up-and-coming type of ruckman.  Pacy, he knows how to use his weight.  Clears a passage for the smaller men, and he can rest either in the forward or back pockets, a decided advantage.  Clears the ball with penetrating, long kicks.  Occupation: Storeman.

John McIntosh (Claremont)

22 192cm 95.5kg Ruckman.  His state's number one ruckman.  Strong in all departments of the game.  Having a great season.  Formerly from country (Beverly), first played League in 1962, and state player from 1963.  Occupation: Bank Officer.

Bert Thornley (East Fremantle)

23 178cm 76kg Utility.  One of the team's most versatile footballers, who plays the game hard.  Has played in many positions.  Invaluable as a ruck-rover.  Played at centre for his club this year.  Excellent ball handler and kick.  Played on a half forward flank against the VFA and at centre against the VFL last year.  Occupation: Police Officer.

21 179cm 77kg Half back flank.  formerly from country.  Formerly from country.  Red headed, nuggety and durable type of player, chock-full of courage.  Never gives in.  Plays a forcing, yet tight checking game.  Has hit his straps this season.  Occupation: Sales representative.

Keith Slater (Subiaco - vice captain)

31 191cm 87kg Most experienced follower with the WA team and the one remaining ruckman of WA's 1961 championship team.  Strong knock ruckman, invaluable with his marking around the ground.  Up till May 21 had played only two League games this season.  Troubled with ankle injuries.  Played in many state games.  Three championship series.  Occupation: Departmental Store Manager.

Cyril Litterick (Swan Districts)

29 191cm 85kg Ruckman.  One of his state's hardest working ruckmen and chock-full of courage.  Good kick and strong mark, he has the ability to kick goals while resting in the forward pocket.  First interstate selection.  Occupation: Police Officer.

Bob Johnson (East Fremantle)

31 198cm 96.5kg Led his side to a magnificent grand final victory over Swan Districts last year.  Plays at full forward.  Leading goal kicker this season.  Finished third ((2 goals 51 points) among the goal kickers last year.  Booted 11 goals on May 7.  He has a tremendous advantage with his height and great reach.  In his 13th League season.  Played in 10 grand finals (6 with Melbourne, 4 with Old Easts) and has played 238 League games, including 144 with Melbourne.  Johnson starred at full forward against the VFL in 1963, kicking 5 goals.  Occupation: Sales Representative.

26 185cm 87kg Centre half back.  Excels in this position.  Strong, vigorous, pacy.  Kicks balls long, also left foot drop punts the ball.  Strong in the air.  Won state selection in 1962 and 1965.  Injured in 1963.  Gave football away in 1964.  Occupation: Bank Officer.

Brian Sarre (Subiaco)

23 192cm 92kg Full back.  he has played at centre half back, centre half forward and on the ball, but his true position is goalkeeper.  High flying player with a tremendous reach.  Great mark and one of the longest driving drop kicks in the WANFL.  He was at full back against the VFL (MCG) 1964 and also the previous year when his display won him the Simpson Medal.  Occupation: School teacher.

Ken Bagley (Swan Districts)

25 185cm 86.5kg Utility.  Possibly his state's most talented footballer.  Bagley can play in practically any position.  Beautiful left foot drop kick.  He plays the game hard but fairly.  Representative of state teams since 1961.  Occupation: Sales Representative.

Mal Atwell (Perth)

28 188cm 85.5kg Centre half back.  Usually at full back in state games.  Dashing, fiery type of player who comes through full-chested, and one of the side's most experienced interstate footballers.  Takes a run on the ball.  Cleared by East Perth to Perth for a transfer fee of $3,500 this year.  Fee payable over two years.  Since 1960, he has represented WA in all interstate matches with the exception of the match against the VFA last year.  Occupation: Insurance Assessor.
