Coach: Malcolm Atwell (Perth) - Unlike the other three state coaches Atwell, aged 33, is still playing. Has been captain-coach of Perth for the past four years after a magnificent career with East Perth. As a playing coach of Perth he has had almost unbelievable success - the past three premierships in a row. As a player he represented Western Australia for many years and earned a reputation as one of the toughest, most rugged, hard hitting players in the game. He played in ruck or defence, and is a former top professional sprint runner. (See footnote 1)
