Formed:  1946, replacing the Alberton Football Association (AFA) which had been in existence since 1928.  Prior to that, clubs in the region had been served by the South Gippsland Football Association (SGFA, 1924-7) and the Alberton Shire Football Association (ASFA), which is known to have been in existence as early as the 1880s.
