BEVERLEYCurrent Affiliation: Avon Football Association (AFA) since 1959 Club Address: P.O. Box 10, Beverley, Western Australia 6304 Senior AFA Premierships: 1960-1, 1973, 1976, 1992, 1996, 2003, 2010 (8 total) Beverley was one of ten founder members of the Avon Football Association, which was formed in 1959 by means of a merger between the East Avon Football Association and the Avon Valley Football Association. The club reached its first AFA grand final in 1960 when it scored 16.11 (107) to 5.10 (40) grand final defeat of Northam Unions. In 1961 it went back to back on the strength of a similarly convincing grand final triumph over the same opposition, final scores being Beverley 12.13 (85) defeated Unions 5.7 (37). Beverley went on to qualify for both the 1962 and 1963 grand finals as well, but suffered defeat at the hands of Quairading in the former year and Meckering in the latter. The remainder of the 1960s saw Beverley dropping back among the chasing pack. The 1970s brought a fifty per cent success rate from four senior grade grand finals. In both 1973 against Kellerberrin and 1976 against Cunderdin Beverley was successful, but the 1974 grand final against Quairading and the 1977 clash with Cunderdin both ended in defeat. The 1980s would prove to be the only complete decade of the club’s involvement in the AFA not to yield a premiership. The only grand final appearance for the decade came in 1986, but Cunderdin proved comfortably too strong. Over the past couple of decades Beverley has experienced its fair share of highs and lows highlighted by a smattering of grand final appearances, with victory being claimed in those of 1992, 1996, 2003 and 2010.
