They qualified for a grand final in their second season, but lost by 15 points to Federal. A year later they triumphed on grand final day against Cudgewa by 14 points. The Magpies were particularly strong during the 1990s, contesting nine out of ten senior grade grand finals for half a dozen wins. The victories were attained in two sets of three. Between 1990 and 1992 they overcame the challenges of Corryong by margins of 64 and 74 points and Federal in a low scoring affair by 28 points. Then between 1996 and 1998 they accounted for Corryong by 8 goals, Cudgewa by 29 points, and Tumbarumba by a single straight kick.
