Box 56, Merredin, Western Australia 6415 Colours: Blue and white Emblem: Cats Senior EDFL Premierships: 1981, 1988-9, 1991-2 (5 total) The Cats date back to 1923 when they competed in the local Merredin competition. After struggling for the better part of a decade they enjoyed a spate of success during the 1930s, claiming premierships in 1933, 1934, 1936 and 1937. After that, the club did not again go top until 1958. The 1960 season saw the Merredin League being reconstituted as the Eastern Districts Football League. Burracoppin was a founder member of the competition, but had to wait until 1981 before winning a senior grade premiership. The club’s reserves meanwhile, who began competing in 1962, proved rather more successful, and emerged victorious from the grand finals of 1963, 1966 and 1968. To date, the Cats have won a total of five senior grade EDFL flags, but it is now almost two decades since the last of these. In 2008 both seniors and reserves could only manage 2 wins from 14 matches for the year, with the seniors finishing seventh (of eight) and the reserves last. Where now? or
