Both these clubs had been competing in the Bunbury Collie Football League, which had been founded in 1953, and Busselton continued in the same competition. The success of the marriage was swiftly attested to as the Magpies went top in 1956, which proved to be the last season for the BCFL which was replaced the following year by the South West Football League. To date, Busselton has claimed a total of fifteen SWFL flags in the competition’s three grades. Perhaps most worthy of comment was the colts’ feat in claiming no fewer than half a dozen consecutive premierships between 1997 and 2002. In 2008 both the seniors and reserves qualified for the finals and were ultimately placed third. The colts meanwhile finished a win plus percentage adrift of finals qualification. A year later only the colts reached the finals, ultimately finishing second, while the seniors (sixth) and reserves (seventh) endured mixed fortunes. Where now? or
