Canterbury will commence the 2009 season in division four of the Eastern Football League having previously been members of the Southern Football League since that competition’s inception in 1993. The club’s sole SFL premiership came in 2003 in division three.

The Cobras have a history dating as far back as 1881 but details of their achievements are surprisingly patchy, although it is known that they claimed a total of three senior grade flags during their three and a half decade stint in the South East Suburban Football League.
