Formed in 1948, the Cardross Football Club commenced participation in the Sunraysia Football League the same year. In fourteen seasons of involvement in this competition the Lions achieved premiership success twice, in 1951 and 1952. The 1962 season saw the side lining up in the Millewa Football League and enjoying a fine season culminating in an 11.12 (78) to 11.9 (75) grand final defeat of Meringur. The following season this success was repeated at the expense of the same opponent by the even narrower margin of a single point. The Lions’ only other MFL flag was won in 1972 although they have been losing grand finalists on several occasions, most recently in 2006 and 2007.
