Their culture of success had roots dating back even further, to the first decade of the last century. Formed in 1908, they had already claimed three flags by the time of the first world war. All told, Cleve can lay claim to no fewer than thirty-three senior grade premierships from a total of no fewer than sixty-one grand final or challenge final appearances making it one of the most successful clubs in South Australia.
