Box 9, Cohuna, Victoria 3568 Formed: after the 1996 season, through the merger of the Cohuna and Union Football Clubs Colours: Purple, green, red and white Emblem: Kangaroos Senior Premierships: Nil Senior CMFL Best and Fairest Player Awards: Nil Cohuna and Union had been rivals in the Northern and Echuca Football League (NEFL) and various precursor competitions for fifty-one seasons when they elected to amalgamate in 1996. The following year the newly merged club commenced its competitive life in a newly merged competition, the Central Murray Football League, which had arisen through the marriage of the NEFL and the Mid Murray Football League. The Kangas were highly competitive to begin with, contesting the finals consistently, and twice, in 1998 and 2000, reaching the grand final. However, a premiership eluded them. In recent seasons the team has struggled somewhat, even succumbing to a wooden spoon in 2005. The 2006 and 2007 seasons brought discernible improvement as the side finished eighth and sixth, but in 2008 there was a slump in fortune and the Kangas only managed 4 wins to drop to ninth place on the twelve team premiership ladder.
