When the Hawks overcame Imperials by 39 points in the 2009 Lower South West Football League senior grade grand final it gave them their sixteenth premiership in the competition. Only Southerners, with seventeen flags to their credit, have a better record. Deanmill’s success has been achieved steadily and systematically rather than in isolated flurries, with the longest premiership drought the club has had to endure being a mere seven seasons. In 2010 they again reached the grand final only to succumb to Tigers by 51 points.
