Dodges Ferry spent the first twenty-three years of the club's existence competing in the Tasman Football Association, where it won half a dozen senior premierships from eleven grand final appearances. Since entering AFL Southern Tasmania's Regional League in 2002 the Sharks have been competitive, and in 2006 they broke through for their first premiership courtesy of a 14.13 (97) to 13.9 (87) grand final defeat of Sorrell.
