The most successful phase in Dookie United’s three decade long history has come since the club commenced in the Picola and District Football League in 2006. After finishing tenth (of fifteen) on debut the Rangers enjoyed a superb 2007 season which saw them qualify for the finals in second place behind Katandra whom they then proceeded to defeat in both the second semi final, by 8 points, and grand final, by 23 points. The side continued to perform strongly in 2008, finishing the home and away rounds in second place once more with an impressive 16-2 record. However, their finals form was disappointing, and their premiership ambitions were brought to a peremptory end at the preliminary final stage by eventual premiers Tungamah.
