Boasting a combined population of well under 1,000 inhabitants, the small townships of Boyanup, Dardanup and Capel are situated within an area of some 20 square kilometres to the south and south-east of Bunbury.  The football club which today represents them was born in 1957 as Boyanup Capel, and participated that year in the newly formed South West National Football League's seconds competition.  Two years later the club was admitted as a full senior member of the league.

Despite so far failing to win any senior premierships the Boomers, as they are known today, have made a worthy contribution to what is probably the strongest non-metropolitan football competition in Western Australia.  Based in Boyanup for most of its history, in 2001 the club took the bold step of relocating to Eaton, which is one of the fastest growing parts of the city of Bunbury.  In 2006, the Eaton Boomers' colts team provided the first significant vindication of the move, as well as a possible hint of what is soon to come at senior level, by winning the club's first ever premiership in any grade of football thanks to a 31 point win over Carey Park.
