FITZROY STARSCurrent Affiliation: Northern Football League (NFL) since 2008 Colours: Red, black and gold Emblem: Stars Senior Grade Premierships: 1974, 1977, 1985, 1989-90, 1992 (6 total) In 2008, after fourteen years in recess, the Stars began competing in division two of the Northern Football League. Originally formed in the early 1970s, the Stars were and remain an all indigenous club. The side competed at various times in the Metropolitan Football League, the Melbourne North Football League, and the National YCW Football League, claiming a total of half a dozen senior grade premierships. Many Stars players represent Victoria at the National Aboriginal Football Carnival. In 2008 the Stars enjoyed a creditable season, winning 10 out of 18 matches to finish seventh of fourteen teams. The club has also competed regularly at Victorian Aboriginal Youth Sport and Recreation Statewide Football Carnival, winning more titles over the past twenty-five years than any other team.
