GEELONG ASSOCIATION

Affiliated: VFA 1922-1927

Home Ground: Kardinia Park 1922-5; Geelong West 1926-7

Formed: 1922

Colours: Purple and gold in 1922, thereafter navy blue and white

Premierships: Nil

MINI-BIOGRAPHIES: Bill Busbridge

Geelong Association replaced Essendon Association in the VFA in 1922 but never enjoyed the success of its predecessor, finishing bottom in three of its six seasons and managing an overall success rate of just 13.5%.  The club's best seasons were 1924 and 1926 when it finished 8th (of 10), winning 4 out of 18 games on both occasions.

Arguably Geelong Association's most outstanding player was Mick Elston who ran second to Northcote's Tommy Downs in the voting for the 1925 Recorder Cup.  Considering his team finished bottom of the list with just 1 win from 14 matches it was a remarkable effort.
