The Eagles' solitary Central Highlands Football League premiership to date came in 1988 when, after topping the ladder, they recovered from a second semi final loss against Bungaree to defeat Dunnstown in the preliminary final before gaining revenge against the Demons in the grand final.
In 1979, Gordon had been a founder member of the CHFL, having spent the preceding six decades in a variety of local competitions. The club won a number of senior premierships during this time, with perhaps the most noteworthy coming in 1931 in the Dunnstown Football Association when Yendon was beaten by a goal in a replayed grand final.
