The Ironbank Football Club has come a long way since being established just over twenty years ago. From very rough and ready beginnings when the senior side competed in the HFL's third tier competition the club has steadily grown in size and strength and now boasts two senior and two junior teams. In 1998-9 the Thunderers won consecutive Country Division premierships, and they now compete in the elite Central Division. The 2006 season was somewhat disappointing as the senior side won just 1 of its 16 matches to finish last, but early signs are that 2007 will be considerably more successful.
