KANIVA LEEOR UNITEDCurrent Affiliation: Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League (KNTFL) since 1997 Home Grounds: Kaniva and Serviceton Formed: 1996, through the merger of Kaniva and Leeor Football Clubs Colours: Blue, green and white Emblem: Cougars Senior Premierships: Nil Kaniva Leeor United Football Club has only been in existence since 1996, and has yet to win a senior premiership. The Cougars finished 10th of 12 clubs in 2006 with a 4-13 record. Organised football was played in Kaniva as early as the 1890s, and between the end of the 1st World War and the early 1960s the town's football club enjoyed regular premiership success in a variety of competitions. Leeor Football Club was a prominent member of the Tatiara Football League for many years, and claimed senior premierships in 1950, 1952 and 1966. During its later years Leeor was nicknamed the Jets, while Kaniva were known for many years as the Bulldogs. Where now? or |
