KARRATHA KATSCurrent Affiliation: North Pilbara Football League (NPFL) since 1977 Formed: 1971 Club Address: P.O. Box 235, Karratha Western Australia 67134 Colours: Blue and white Emblem: Kats Senior NPFL Premierships: 1979, 1981, 1989, 1991, 1999-2000-1, 2003 (8 total) With eight premierships to their name, the Kats have been the North Pilbara Football League’s most successful club. They are also one of only three clubs to have claimed a hat-trick of flags (the others being Karratha Falcons 1996 to 1988, and South Hedland Swans, who eventually won five in a row from 1992 to 1996). In sharp contrast, the club’s recent performances have been disappointing. In 2008, for instance, the Kats managed just a single win for the year, and lost 4 of their matches by forfeit. A measure of improvement was shown in 2009 with the Kats' tally of 6 wins from 15 matches for the year earning them a first semi final clash with Rovers, and although this was lost it would appear that, for the first time in years, the club is heading in the right direction.
