| Currently one of eight clubs competing in the
SFL's Premier League, Kingborough has a long, proud and distinguished history
which has yielded 14 senior premierships in a variety of
competitions. Its most recent flag came in the SFL in 1997 when it
scored a 10.14 (74) to 8.1 (49) grand final defeat of Claremont. The
arrival in the SFL in recent years of five former TFL Statewide heavyweights made life difficult for Kingston
- which from 2004 became known as Kingborough - but the club has never previously
shirked a challenge and is unlikely to do so now.
In 2005 the Tigers qualified for the finals in 5th place
with an 8-10 roster match record, but their season ended calamitously as Glenorchy
overwhelmed them in the elimination final to the tune of 87 points.
It was a similar story twelve months later, with Hobart
on this occasion proving too strong on elimination final day, winning by
10 clear goals, 20.10 (130) to 10.10 (70).

After these promising results, the Tigers'
performances in 2007 were extremely disappointing as they managed just 1 win and
a draw from their 18 roster matches to end up with the wooden spoon.
