LEOPOLDAffiliated: Geelong Football League (GFL) since 1992 Colours: Dark green and gold Emblem: Lions Senior Grade Post-War Premierships: Bellarine Football League (BFL) - 1979, 1990 (2 total) Mathieson Medallists: Mark Dahlhous 1994; Rick Wilde 2002 & 2003; Tony Brown 2006 (3 Medallists/4 Medals) The Lions spent time in a number of different competitions prior to commencing in the Geelong Football League in 1992. Their most successful phase was a twenty-one season stint in the Bellarine Football League which yielded senior grade premierships in 1979, thanks to an 18.12 (120) to 17.9 (111) grand final defeat of Newcomb, and 1990, when Anglesea was accounted for by a margin of 28 points. The seniors also came second in 1985, 1987 and 1991, while the reserves claimed a couple of flags from half a dozen grand finals. Leopold’s seniors have yet to win a GFL premiership, but the reserves have won two. In 2008 the seniors had a mediocre season, winning 9 of their 18 home and away matches to finish mid-table. Meanwhile the reserves qualified for the finals in pole position and ultimately made it through to the grand final, only to lose to St Mary’s by 19 points. Where now? or
