The club fielded a team in the NSWAFL's reserves competition in 1970, and in 1971 was among the foundation members of the NSWAFL 2nd division, forerunner of the Sydney Football Association. It spent the 1972 season competing in the Sydney Districts Association before resuming in the SFA in 1973. After spending many years endeavouring to make their mark the Warriors finally broke through for a senior grade premiership in 1998, under the coaching of Michael Cockerton. Further flags were swiftly claimed in 1999 and 2000, while in 2009 the Warriors obtained promotion to division one by capturing the division two premiership. Dean Connors Sanders Medal win for best and fairest in the competition was icing on the cake.. In 2010 Macquarie University qualified for the 1st Division finals in fourth place which was where the club ultimately finished after beating North Shore in the elimination final but losing to Manly-Warringah in the first semi. .
