The club did not take long to find its feet, and claimed a premiership in only its third season thanks to a 9.12 (66) to 9.8 (62) grand final defeat of Waybacks. This result was repeated a year later, although Marble Range had marginally more breathing space as the margin was 5 points instead of 4. Between 1948 and 1952 Marble Range competed in the Great Flinders Football League without notable success. When it applied to resume in the Port Lincoln competition in 1953 the club was told that it would have to serve a period of probation in B Grade before being admitted to A Grade. The probation would last until the club was successful in winning a B Grade premiership, which it eventually did in 1956. In the half a century since resuming in the PLFL the Magpies have contested fifteen grand finals and won nine. Many of their most memorable efforts have come in recent years. Since 1995, for instance, they have played off for the premiership a total of eight times, and only once failed to claim victory. Where now? or
