However, it is believed that prior to world war one the club was successful in procuring a number of premierships. In 1921 the club was a foundation member of the Mountaineer Football Association and claimed the flag in what proved to be its only season in the competition. The remainder of the interwar period was highlighted by twin premiership triumphs in the Mountain District Football Association, the first in 1923 and the second twelve years later. After world war two the Hawks struggled for many years but the past quarter of a century has seen them enjoying regular premiership success. Five of the seven flags claimed during that time have been in the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League's top division with the others coming in division two. The club has also won a couple of reserves flags, one in each division. In 2008 Monbulk's seniors and reserves both qualified for the finals and ultimately finished fourth. Where now? or
