The senior side was particularly strong during the early 1950s, winning its only A Grade flag to date in 1952, as well as more recently in the 1990s. After winning the B Grade premiership in 1994 the seniors acquitted themselves well in A Grade the next year, ultimately finishing 4th. A combination of injuries and the loss of key players scuppered the club's ambitions, however, and within three years the team was back in B Grade. One of the most noteworthy seasons in the Magpies' history came in 1999 when both seniors and reserves went top. The seniors held their own in A Grade for the next few seasons before succumbing to relegation in 2005 when they managed just 1 win from 18 matches for the year. The side has continued to struggle since, finishing 2nd from bottom in 2006 and last in 2007. Where now? or |
