North Brunswick was admitted to the VAFA in 1971, as a member of the newly revived F Section, which had gone into temporary abeyance six years earlier.  The club reached the finals for the first time in 1974, and crowned a highly satisfying campaign with a 13.11 (89) to 9.13 (67) grand final win over Old Mentonians.

The ensuing half a dozen seasons were spent consolidating in E Section - which is a polite way of saying that neither promotion nor relegation were achieved, although twice - in 1977 and 1979 - the side got as far as the preliminary final.

North Brunswick reached its second grand final in 1981, and once again emerged victorious, this time by the rather more comfortable margin of 47 points, 15.13 (103) to University Reds' 7.14 (56).  The next couple of seasons were noteworthy in that they saw the club achieving its highest ever position in the VAFA pecking order, 4th place in D Section.

The closest North Brunswick has come to procuring a third senior premiership was a losing E Grade grand final against University Reds in 1995.

In July 2006 more than 200 people attended a special ball to commemorate the club's fortieth anniversary.  During the course of the function, four 'best of' combinations were announced, one for each decade of the club's existence, while fourteen key contributors to the club's developing tradition became the inaugural members of its official Hall of Fame.

The 2007 season found North Brunswick competing in D4 Section where its tally of 4 wins from 18 matches saw it placed 10th of 12 teams.
