Blessed Oliver Plunkett Football Club came into being in 1947. Initially, and indeed for over thirty years, it was a junior club only, but in the late 1970s it began to field open age teams as well. Following the canonisation of Blessed Oliver Plunkett in 1975 the club had become known as St Oliver's, a name it retained until 1990 when the decision was taken to adopt the name of the locality in which it was based, North Coburg, whilst retaining the Saints emblem.
Although the Saints never managed to procure a senior EDFL flag, the reserves did go top in 1993 in B Grade. The senior side's best result was 3rd place in B Grade, which it achieved on two occasions during the 1980s. At the end of the 2007 season it was announced that North Coburg would be amalgamating with Fawkner Park of the Northern Football League, with the new club being named the Northern Saints.
