In 1972, after almost half a century in the Flinders Football League, Orroroo transferred to the Northern Areas Football Association. Reigning Flinders League premiers at the time of the crossover, the side wasted little time in making its mark on the new competition, reaching a grand final (lost to Crystal Brook) in its third season before embarking on a hat trick of premiership triumphs. Flags have followed regularly ever since, and indeed over the past three decades the 'Roos have been the competition's most consistently successful club.

Orroroo has been home to many fine footballers, with perhaps pride of place going to members of the Duffy family. In 1972 Kevin Duffy, already a triple Mail Medallist in the Flinders competition, added the first of two more in the NAFA, while his son Justin Duffy won three Medals in four years in the 1990s, besides being runner-up on two other occasions.

The 'Roos latest senior flag was claimed only last year thanks to a hard fought 10 point grand final defeat of a dogged opponent in Broughton-Mundoora. Prior to the finals, the 'Roos had topped the ladder with 12 wins and a draw from 16 matches before comfortably overcoming Crystal Brook in the second semi final. The premiership decider against the Eagles was a much tighter affair and rendered all the more so by virtue of Orroroo's inaccuracy. At three quarter time, Orroroo trailed by 12 points despite having had 25 scoring shots to 17, but a 5 goal to 1 final term turned things around.
