OTWAY DISTRICTSCurrent Affiliation: Colac and District Football League (CDFL) since 2003 Formed: 1982 Colours: Navy blue and red Emblem: Demons Senior Premierships: Nil Otway Districts was formed in 1982 by a merger between Otway Rovers and Gellibrand, which had competed together in the Colac and District Football League for the previous half a century. The Demons commenced life in the same competition as their forebears, but, after showing promise early, began to find the going difficult. In both 1992 and 1993 they finished last without a win, and in 1994 the club went into voluntary recess. Twelve months later Otway Districts resurfaced as members of the Heytesbury-Mount Noorat Football League (HMNFL). Over the course of their eight season stint in this competition the Demons showed steady improvement, culminating in a losing grand final appearance against Heytesbury in 2002. The HMNFL then disbanded, and the 2003 season saw Otway Districts returning 'home' to the CDFL where the seniors initially performed quite creditably. Recent seasons have been more disappointing, however, with the side managing just 6 wins from 18 starts in 2006, and 4 from the same number last year. Where now? or |
