PHILLIP ISLAND

Current Affiliation:  Alberton Football League (AlbFL) since 2005

Colours:  Blue, red and white

Emblem:  Bulldogs

Senior Premierships:  Nil

Phillip Island competed in the Wonthaggi and District Football League when football resumed after world war two. In 1955 the WDFL merged with the Bass Valley Football Association to form the Bass Valley-Wonthaggi and District Football League, and Phillip Island was among the thirteen founder members of the new competition.

The Bulldogs fielded some particularly strong sides during the 1990s. In 1994 and 1995 they reached the grand final, only to lose to Wonthaggi Rovers on both occasions.

At the end of the 1995 season the BVWDFL went into abeyance and the Bulldogs moved on to West Gippsland Football League. Since 2005 they have been members of the Alberton Football League where they have acquitted themselves well without really threatening to take out a premiership.
