Geraldton's Railway Football Club can claim to have been to have been prominently involved in football in the Geraldton area since the code's formal inception in 1904 with the establishment of the Geraldton Football Association.  During the pre-World One period the club developed an intense rivalry with Rovers as the two clubs dominated the competition.  Railways' prominence continued after the war, and indeed right until the formation, in 1961, of a broader-based competition, the Great Northern Football League.  The Blues were founder members of this competition, and won the inaugural premiership.  They have since amassed a league record eleven senior titles, with the most recent coming in 2010 courtesy of a 21.14 (140) to 12.15 (87) grand final defeat of Towns.
