SOUTH BRISBANE

Affiliation History:  Queensland Football League (QFL) 1910-24 and 1926-40

Formed:  1910

Senior Premierships:  1910-11, 1914, 1921 (4 total)

De Little Medallists:  T.Chard 1928 (1 total - records incomplete)

South Brisbane was only in existence for a comparatively brief period of time, but its achievements were impressive.  Not to be confused with the short-lived South club that was an inaugural member of the QFL in 1904, South Brisbane began life in that same league six years later.  From the outset, South injected much-needed new life into a competition that had lost a succession of clubs over the previous two seasons, and seemed in real and imminent danger of going to the wall.  Between 1910 and 1914, South Brisbane contested every grand final except one, emerging victorious from those of 1910 against City, 1911 against Wynnum, and 1914 against Valley.  The club added a fourth premiership in 1921, but after that its success evaporated, although it did manage to contest another grand final in 1922 when it got to within a couple of points of an emerging Brisbane side.

It appears likely that, after World War Two, South Brisbane merged with Yeronga, in which case the club's history and tradition continue to be built on to this day.
