The Southern Eagles were formed in 1994 by means of a three way merger involving Yorketown, Edithburgh and Western United. The club achieved its first senior premiership in its second season, and its second in 2008 when it overcame the grand final challenge of Moonta by 17 points, 14.8 (92) to 11.9 (75).
