Current Affiliation:  Yorke Peninsula Football League (YPFL) since 1994

Formed:  1994 by the merger of Edithburgh, Western United and Yorketown Football Clubs

Colours:  Blue, green and gold

Emblem:  Eagles

Senior Premierships:  1995, 2008-9 (3 total)

The Southern Eagles were formed in 1994 by means of a three way merger involving Yorketown, Edithburgh and Western United.  The club achieved its first senior premiership in its second season, and its second in 2008 when it overcame the grand final challenge of Moonta by 17 points, 14.8 (92) to 11.9 (75). In 2009 the Eagles went back to back after again seeing off Moonta in the grand final, this time by the rather more conclusive margin of 87 points.
