TOORA AND DISTRICTCurrent Affiliation: Alberton Football League (AlbFL) since 1946 Formed: 1892 Colours: Black and white Senior Premierships: 1973 (1 total) Between the time of its formation, and the outbreak of the second world war, Toora competed in a number of different competitions without achieving premiership success. After the war, in 1946, the club was a founding member of the Alberton Football League where it has competed ever since. So far, senior premiership success has only been claimed once, but there have been a number of near misses. The club's senior team was particularly strong during the 1960s, contesting the finals almost annually, and getting as far as the grand final on three occasions. Toora's sole senior flag arrived in 1973 after a nerve-wracking 1 point grand final defeat of Meeniyan-Dumbalk United. The side had battled its way through to the grand final from the first semi, and few people gave it a chance of upsetting the in form Demons. Toora's fortunes since 1973 have been modest, at senior level at any rate, but there were signs during a 2007 season that ultimately brought finals qualification and fourth place that another noteworthy phase in the club's history might be imminent.
