Wakool Football Club has spent the past half century as members of the Golden Rivers Football League, and its precursor the Kerang District Football League.
Success was quite slow arriving for the Hawks, but since breaking through for a first senior premiership in 1976 they have consistently featured among the competition's front runners. Their most recent flag was claimed in 2006 when they scored straight sets wins over Nullawil, by 48 points in the 2nd semi final, and by 8 points in a much harder fought grand final.
The 2007 season brought a comparative fall from grace. A 10-5-1 record secured 3rd position on the ladder, and a sudden death 1st semi final clash with Nullawil, but this was lost by the surprisingly hefty margin of 59 points.
