Werribee Amateur Football Club was admitted to the VAFA's F Section competition in 1998.  The senior side has twice achieved promotion: in 2002 in D4 Grade, when it lost the grand final to Rupertswood, and via another losing grand final, this time in D3 Section against St John's Old Collegians, in 2005.

The 2006 season saw the Tigers, coached by Paul Beddoe, consolidate in D2 Grade, winning 8 of their 18 matches to finish 6th.  A year later, they qualified for the finals in 3rd place with a 13-5 record before ousting Emmaus St Leo's from flag contention in the 1st semi final by 38 points.  Preliminary final opponents South Melbourne Districts proved too strong, however, winning a high scoring encounter by 55 points.
