Formed:  1931, as the Footscray District Junior Football League (FDJFL)

Name History:  1931-34 FDJFL; 1935-99 Footscray District Football League (FDFL); in 2000 the FDFL underwent an ostensible merger with the Western Suburban Football League (WSFL), which had been in recess since the end of the 1987 season; the new competition was known as the Western Region Football League (WRFL).
