* WFL clubs participated in the Spencer Gulf Football League during the period 1961-6, with South Whyalla in 1962 and West Whyalla in 1963 earning premierships in that competition. However, the WFL continued to recognise its own premiership sides during this period, presumably on the basis of performances in the SGFL, although I am open to correction on that point.
