The club's original jumpers were royal blue with a white vee. During the 1930s Yeronga competed in the QANFL, getting as far as the grand final in 1932 and 1937, but losing on both occasions. After the war the club appears to have merged with, or assimilated, South Brisbane, whilst retaining the Yeronga name and colours. Over the next few decades, the club competed in various competitions, including the state league in 1945-6, from 1949 to 1952, and in 1957 and 1960. Yeronga currently competes in Division One of AFL Queensland's State Association. Known as the Devils, the club's official colours are black and red. In 2006 Yeronga beat Wynnum in the senior grand final by 3 goals, 13.12 (90) to 10.12 (72), after leading at every change by 16, 32 and 26 points. The Devils' best players were Glenn Hayles, Glenn Noye, John Kaye and Sean Cummiskey, while Paul O'Brien top scored with 5 goals. Yeronga's reserves also contested the grand final in 2006, but went down by 31 points against the University of Queensland. Where now? or |
